The story here is unfinished. This actually happened in India when Vivekananda (who later became a great yogi) the young disciple of the great sage, Ramakrishna Paramahansa, asked the Master to show him God! The Master replied that he would do so when the time was right. But the young Vivekananda would not take No for an answer. He kept on asking and pestering his Guru to show him God! So Sri Ramakrishna, the Master, took the young Vivekananda to the river near his ashram and forcefully held him down under the water till Vivekananda choked and gasped for breath! Then Ramakrishna told the young Vivekananda, " When the desire and effort to find God becomes as intense as your struggle and effort to breathe when you were under the water, then shall you find God!"
(Swami Vivekananda, one of modern India's venerated sages, visited America in 1879 to attend the International Convention on World Religions in Chicago. He was the First Indian yogi to visit America. The second was Sri Paramahansa Yogananda in the 20's, founder of SRF - Self Realization Fellowship and author of the now-famous book - Autobiography of a Yogi - followed by several other books.)
