Here are my notes from it.

Lack of vision is a short term strategy. Using techniques that are short lived will not build a long term business.

Infinate opportunity overload is distracting you from success.

The Internet is very efficient, but if you are paddling up the wrong stream it doesn’t matter how efficient your canoe is. What you need to be is effective.

Marketing a niche is still a cash cow. If you become an expert in your niche people will still flock to you. The big boys are too bloated to move quickly into a niche.

“You decidism” rules the web. Dig, delicious, reddit, you decide what people read. YOU, not some DJ with poor jokes and bad breath. Youtube.com gets more views than most TV channels.

Build a business that will last and last and last. Short term is stupid term. Get with it and build your house on rock, not sand.

Create tight, kick ass, loyal groups of like minded people who trust and support each other. One kid in the bedroom business plan is finding it harder and harder. Your clan/group/posse/society/homies can take on the world and make your reach more powerful than it is.

Small strategic, well thought out moves may be better than a huge, kill em all product launch. You get to learn from each phase. People do not get swamped. A far more intelligent way to market an informational product.

Watch the legal stuff, failure to read the small print and avoiding copyright battles can pole axe you.

Campaign Blasts (aff) is a how to make money with affiliate marketing, mainly using Adwords.

The ebook, written by Matt Levenhagen, was talked about on another blog I like so I thought I would take a look.

First thing, todays date is shown as if the sales letter was written on the very day you read it. Sigh! Is there anyone out there who actually thinks that. To me it’s an instant turn off and although I am an affiliate marketing virgin I have been Online marketing since 1998, so I may be a bit jaded as know that the reason the days date is shown is because of a little script. And I bet most people know as well.

It’s a little thing, but do we really gain anything from insulting the inteligence of our readers.

OK rant over.

I didn’t feel very excited whilst reading the news letter, I don’t know if Matt wrote it or paid 5 grand to some expert copywriter, but it doesn’t grab me by the cahonas like a good sales letter should.

Not sure who the ebook is aimed at, as it teaches you how to register a domain. Are there really people out there considering starting an adwords/clickbank business who do not know how to register a domain.

Perhaps quite a few, but I doubt it.

It may be that the product suffers from a poorly written sales letter. At first I was quite pleased there wasn’t the usual 18pt bright read headlines with quotes around them, screaming at me to pay attention or they will come round to your house one night and wake you with a large, dead trout. But found myself not grabbed by unquenching irrationality to purchase said product.

Nor was there the relentless bullet point lists of the benefits and advantages of the ebook. The ones that plug straight into the primeval savage part of me bypassing thousands of years of civilisation and rational thought.

No, the product is probably good. It’s the sales letter that does not do it for me.

Well Matt, if you are reading this and want me to review the ebook you will have to send me a copy as I’m just not juiced up enough to reach into my back pocket and hold that cold plastic credit card in my hand, and punch in those numbers.

But that’s just me.

Michael Cheney of Adsense video fame has now turned his attention to “list building”.

His sales letter starts with “How To Start From Scratch And Get Your Own List Of Rabid Buyers In Just 11 Days..”, I love it. Imagine packs of rabid buyers roaming the web waiting to devour your products in exchange for cold hard cash.

I would like to know who wrote the sales letter as it’s a bloody good one. Let me put in on my to do list. Tell you what, I will email Michael and ask him but only report the news on my email list. See, already you get something juicey by signing up to my list.

OK, I have not bought the list building system yet but each time I read the sales letter my juices get going and I itch to buy. It’s not the money, it’s the time. Also I’m not so sure about videos, I prefer to read. You can print out and ebook and take it anywhere with a pencil and marker pen. Also, you get to write on the ebook and I take lots of notes when digesting this stuff.

Also, Michael Rasmussen has brought out a similar product and it’s difficult to differentiate between the two.

Gabriel Aguinaga, writer of the Money making Secrets blog has rubbished Andrew Fox’s top selling Ebook Dominating Clickbank (aff).

When he asks himself is it worth $97 he answers himself, “Heck NO”. He goes on to say “Okay that wasn’t so nice… but I am wondering if all the “gurus” promoting this product saw the same videos as I did… or if they watched them at all.”

It’s true the so called Gurus do promote each others stuff, but is that just because if you produce quality stuff you end up being a guru. If being a guru means you are an excellent marketer then it would make sense that when another succesful marketer has a product it’s worth a look.

I have not bought Dominating Clickbank, not on the the strength of the review but the promo videos didn’t reveal anything new to me.

I would buy it simply on the basis that Andrew Fox is an excellent salesman and marketer and there is something to be learned. But when the community responds in such a strong way you have to think is this more spin than substance.

Gabriel Aguinaga generated a huge amount of comments from his scathing words, which shows that there is a large proportion of people who are not interested in being sold to like this, but when it only needs a response rate of 2%, does a product have to please everyone.

As I trawl through the underbelly of marketing that is affiliate marketing I constantly come across comments on blogs and forums from unsuccesful people that so and so is just selling snake oil. Well that may be, but I see it as the cost of doing business.

I have a budget for information products that runs at about $350 a month. Some ebooks and tools are going to be duds, that’s the price you pay to get to the good stuff.

It’s a price worth paying.

A lot of these super affiliates talk about spending thousands of dollars on their education.

Think you can do it for 50 bucks and a lifetime dredging through free forums.

I don’t think this business is easy to get into.

As I am not selling anything (yet) I can tell you that I expect affiliate marketing to be hard to get into, to take a long time to get right and to cost a lot of money.

Blood, sweat and brute force.

That’s my approach.

Having signed up with a number of double opt in lists run by marketers, I am in the situation where I get sold offers thick and fast. What is useful with being subscribed to so many lists is that I get to see an overview of what is flying around the web.

Here are the latest products trying to prise the cash out of my wallet.

Dominating Click bank by Andrew Fox.
This is a tale of a young mans ability to make money from nothing. I have not yet bought the product yet but it is certainly enticing simply from the numbers that this guys has achieved. He basically takes free products and sells them through clickbank, getting affiliates to sell it for him.

Another informational product to pop into my email this week was the latest offering from Michael Cheney. I wonder if he is a relation?

I can’t find it on Clickbank so it goes out without an aff link, but what the heck. Michael Cheney is of Adsense Videos fame which can be found here, . This does have the aff attached

Now I am in the market to build a list. I want to build my list here and at another site where I have a very juicy joint venture coming out.

Michael Rasmussen has a similar product out and it would be interesting to put these two side by side and compare. Interesting idea to sell them both would be to set up a review page.

Also, Andre Chaperon has a launched an Elite coaching service, where for $200 a month he will give you one hours worth of advice each month. It may seem a little steep but my dealings with Andre have left me to conclude he is a stand up guy. Someone to be trusted. If I had the money lying around I probably would go for it, knowing what he teach me would easily pay for the tuition. Andres blog can be reached here, I suggest you bookmark it.

Rosalind Gardner set me http://www.nichemarketresearch.com/ which is a piece of software which does exactly what it says on the tin. Researches niche markets. looking at the screenshots, it seems to be just a keyword tool. Not as sophisticated as Keyword Elite but also not as expensive.

I don’t think it’s worth buying a keyword tool until you have got to grips with manual keyword research. I have been researching keywords for seven years now. Even before I knew what it was called. It’s a fascinating area of the business of building a business on the web. It is a skill that should be honed as words are what make the Internet marketing go and knowing the right words and the profitable words can be very useful

Another links sent was for http://www.adwordanalyzer.com, again you can work out what it does from the url. An Adwords analytical tool it allows you to identify “The number of searches that were conducted throughout the previous month for each keyword phrase!”, “The number of advertising campaigns that currently exist - for both Google AdWords AND Overture!”, “A comprehensive list of all RELATED keyword phrases!”.

Again this can all be done with keyword Elite ( I love that tool) and at $77 for both packages you may as well buy Keyword Elite.

I have heard of Michael Rasmussen as I traveled around the web reading up on affiliate marketing. Seems like he is one of the big boys, the uber affiliate rather than the super affiliate. So when he launched a new product I thought I would take a peak.

Free videos are on offer and I’m a sucker for a free video.

So I pointed my browser to Email Promos and off I went.

Email Promos is all about helping you marketing via email promotion. Building a list can be a very profitable way of marketing info products and learning the best way to promote via your email is crucial.

Although there are 8 very rich content videos detailing which are completely free, you do have to wade through a couple of sales pitches, now I’ve not bought the product yet so you have to decide on your own. This is a no BS zone so no reviewing of what I don’t use (unlike other affiliates). But what I can say is that Rasmussen has delivered in the past and if his free vids are anything to go buy this dude is the real thing.

Once I have finished a few other projects I will probably by it, sometimes it’s not the money it’s finding the time to digest and exploit what you learn.

I am on the hunt for killer products to sell through my clickbank account.

Affilliate Project X has given me the skinny on what the hell makes a killer product and what makes a dude. Promoting a hot product seems mostly about timing. You have to strike as soon as the product is released.

Look at Butterfly Marketing. A huge bolt out of the door which then dropped dramatically and is now chugging along nicely.

I havn’t had it confirmed yet but I think Chris beat Mike with APX.

The point is, with a hot product like this you have about 2 weeks before things cool off.

As part of my research I came across the following by punching “adwords” into the clickbank search.

These three adwords information product are the top three sellers for this niche on Clickbank, or the top gravity scoring products. All three have been out for a few months now and I am not sure how fresh the information is. I have heard that Chris of Affiliate Project X fame, the creator of Google Cash is going to be publishing an update.

The point is I am looking for an excellent primer into the world of adwords/affiliate marketing and probably the best thing is to buy all three. Along with Perry Marshals Adwords guide, although that is more for general marketing.

If I do buy these I shall review them, what would be fun is to buy all three and run a feature by feature comparison. Without giving anything away of course I still want to sell a few through my aff link.
